The New York Jets have opened their 2020 NFL Draft with Louisville offensive lineman, Mekhi Becton.

The 21-year-old junior started 13 games as a true freshman back in 2017 and 11 at tackle. Becton was the highest-rated freshman in the country by Pro Football Focus.

This past season, he played in every game for Louisville.

The monster is 6-foot-7 364 pounds. He ran a 5.1 in the 40-yard-dash and bench pressed 23 reps.

From a scouting perspective, he’s beautiful to watch. This man’s technique is very consistent, he has tremendous strength in his lower body, plays with a consistent pace, he routinely is driving people off the ball, he allows the pass sets very consistently, and he played in the high-powered offense against some high-powered opponents.

He is very fast given his size and will transition nicely into the NFL.

The Jets now possess a strong offensive line in front of Sam Darnold and will hopefully help him to show his full potential and come into form.

The Jets have already added many formidable players to their offensive line through free agency and this pick adds to that.  They added right-tackle George Fant, center Connor McGovern, and left-guard Greg Van Roten.

The Jets now look to improve on their 7-9 season and sniff back into the playoff picture with the division-wide open.
