Report: Jets Sign Starting Cornerback Bring Back The “No Fly Zone”

The Jets continue to splurge on the free-agent market.  After signing mostly offensive line pieces, they have added another starting cornerback after they released Darryl Roberts yesterday for cap space.

The Jets have signed 29-year-old cornerback Pierre Desir to a one-year deal.  He has played for the Indianapolis Colts in 2017 and the Los Angeles Chargers in 2016. His  career began in 2014 when the Cleveland Browns selected him in the fourth round  of the NFL draft.  Desir has played in 23 games for the Colts in the last two seasons.  Pierre Desir had 50 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and 3 INTs in just 11 starts last season. He completely locked down DeAndre Hopkins in the playoffs a year ago.

He had a down year in 2019 and the Jets are signing him to essentially a “prove-it” deal for the 2020 season. The Jets now will have a very good backfield and truly making their nickname of the “No Fly Zone” true.  They will have C.J. Mosley, Avery Williamson, and Blake Cashman at linebacker, Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye at safety, and now Pierre Desir and Brian Poole at the corner.  A very solid backfield in my opinion.
