Report: Titans trade Casey to Denver

In a stunning move, the Tennessee Titans have traded five-time Pro Bowler Jurrell Casey to the Denver Broncos. The Titans will receive a seventh-round pick from the Broncos in return.

Casey has been the face of the Titans defensive line since being drafted by the team in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of USC. In his nine seasons, the four-time NFL top 100 players selection recorded 51 sacks, including a career-high of 10.5 in 2013.

With this move, it looks as if Jeffery Simmons will see his role increased next season. The Titans selected Simmons 19th overall last season out of Mississippi State, although he was still recovering from a knee injury.

The 22-year-old recovered from his injury and managed to play in nine games last season. He recorded a pair of sacks in his first season. Many believed that he and Casey would be a great one-two punch for the Titans defensive line for seasons to come.

But now it’s Simmons time to prove his worth as a first-round draft pick. A day removed from the Titans adding a viable pass rusher in former Falcons edge Vic Beasley, they let their best defensive lineman leave for next to nothing, which leads one to believe they are planning something big behind the scenes, especially after it was said that the team has been quietly shopping Casey. it seems to be more of a salary dump for Tennessee, while the Broncos add more help on the defensive line.
