Report: Raiders, Marcus Mariota Agree to Deal

The Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to terms with the former No. 2 overall pick of the Tennessee Titans.

As reported by Vinny Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Raiders are signing Marcus Mariota.

Mariota was the face of the Titans since coming into the league in 2015. He had an inconsistent career in Tennessee, which ultimately prevented the Titans from giving him a contract extension prior to last season.

Many believed his time was up when the Titans brought in Ryan Tannehill from the Miami Dolphins. After Mariota’s inconsistent play continued through the first six games, head coach Mike Vrabel finally decided to make the change to Tannehill. This proved to be a decision that all but turned their season around.

At worse, Mariota will back up Raiders quarterback Derek Carr for the team’s inaugural season in Sin City. At best, he competes and wins the starting job, making Carr, who received a major extension not too long ago, a potentially interesting trade piece.
