Jets and OBJ A Real Possibility

There have been reports out today that grounds wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. would potentially want out from Cleveland. There are many potential landing spots for the star wide receiver, but he has expressed interest in going back to New York. Per many sources “Odell would welcome a return to New York” is the rumor going around the block. Now you are thinking why New York as he demanded out from the Giants.

Well seemingly so Odell has real interest in joining the Jets to play with Sam Darnold and build a new winning culture in an organization that has struggled to win consistently over the last few decades. Darnold has taken a big step forward, and a nice reward for that would be an asset like Odell. The Jets surely have the cap space for Odell, so the fit looks even better.

Odell has had his own struggles throughout his career. He now will have demanded a trade twice and has been critical of his starting quarterbacks in both cases. With that in the bank, the Jets would not necessarily want Beckham, or to part with the pieces needed to trade for a receiver of Beckham’s caliber. The Jets certainly should have an interest, and it would be great to bring another star to New York, considering they haven’t had a legitimate star receiver in several years.

Last year Beckham had 74 catches for 1035 yards and four touchdowns in an injury-riddled campaign. That’s a big improvement from the Jets top receiver, Jamison Crowder, who finished with 833 yards on 78 receptions.

All of this is all rumors going around the Sports world and we will have to wait and see what transpires.

The Jets have previously been connected to UFA wide-receiver Amari Cooper. Their top receivers at the moment are Jamison Crowder and then a whole slew of non-viable top few targets. New York also has the 11th overall pick in the draft, which may be best used for the offensive line, or a potential number one receiver in Jerry Jeudy of Alabama. At their current state, all help could and should be welcomed.
