Drummond Is Heading To Cleveland

The Detroit Pistons finally pulled the trigger on Andre Drummond, sending the 26-year-old center to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The trade sent Drummond to Cleveland in return for guard Brandon Jennings, center John Henson, and a future second-round pick.

This deal was first reported by Shams Charania, and then the remaining details were provided by Kevin O’Connor. Adrian Wojnarowski added a tidbit of info, reporting that the second-round pick will be the better of Cleveland or Golden State’s 2023 second-round pick.

The Detroit Pistons earlier in the year were asking for two first-round picks for the leagues leading rebounder. There had been multiple rumors to teams such as the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks that involved Drummond.

The Pistons had to get a deal done before 3 p.m. EST, when the trade deadline hit. Drummond had told the team during the season that he would not exercise his player option to stay with Detroit. This player option for next year is worth $27 million; he could become a free agent if he still decides to opt out of the contract.
