Porch: Tom Brady is Going Nowhere

After a crushing loss at Gillette Stadium last night, it has left many fans wondering what legendary quarterback Tom Brady will do as a free agent.

Well, he’s not retiring, and he’s definitely not leaving New England. Here’s why.

Tom Brady has always been and always will be on the hunt for Super Bowl rings. If he were to say sign with another squad, can any team with a quarterback vacancy put him remotely as close to a title as the Patriots can? Probably not. If the Pats can re-sign Devin McCourty and Kyle Van Noy, as well as add a wide receiver and a tight end, the dynasty will still be rolling. For those who say he is retiring, do you think he would allow the final pass of his career to be a pick-six? I didn’t think so. Plus, he said after the loss that retiring is “pretty unlikely.”
Salary. Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick will definitely give Brady what he wants, and for how long he wants. After all, Brady made so many sacrifices salary-wise for the benefit of the team, it’s only fair that he gets his towards the end. The Chargers, Colts, and whoever else thinks they have a shot, will not be so financially inclined to give significant money to a soon to be 43-year-old quarterback.
His remarks. “I love the Patriots,” Brady said. “I mean, this is the greatest organization, and playing for Mr. Kraft all these years and for Coach Belichick, there’s nobody that’s had a better career, I would say, than me, just being with them. So I’m very blessed, and I don’t know what the future looks like, and I’m not going to predict it.” While they sound like a man who needs time to reflect on that loss, most people bring clear signals. Take Gerrit Cole’s interview after the World Series as an example. Brady still talks about the Patriots as home, Cole did not.
His home for sale. This is the craziest reason yet. If a person decides he is sick of his house, he has the right to sell it without speculation of his career and loyalty to his organization. Brady helped build the mega center that is Gillette Stadium, home of your six-time Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. You can’t take anything away from that.

So with all of this being said, it should be considered highly unlikely that No. 12 suits up for anybody in 2020 that isn’t the New England Patriots. However, should he decide to move on, he should be let go with nothing but love from Patriots Nation.
