The 2019 season is still very much the topic of conversation, but here is a quick look at which teams could employ which starting quarterbacks come 2020,
Please note than an asterisk denotes a no-brainer, thus no explanation is necessary.
AFC East
Patriots: Josh Rosen
If Tom Brady decides to retire, Rosen may be a perfect fit. He’s still young enough for Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels to mold.
Jets: Sam Darnold or Eli Manning
If he doesn’t retire, I would guess that the only team Eli plays for would be the Jets, as he doesn’t have to uproot his family. But would the Jets want him? And if so, can he win the starting job over Darnold?
Dolphins: Ryan Fitzpatrick
Miami will likely draft a quarterback, but Fitzpatrick has more than earned the right to keep the seat warm until the rookie is ready.
Bills: Josh Allen*
Don’t be fooled. Regardless of how the rest of the season plays out for this team, Allen hard solidified the starting job here.
AFC North
Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger
That is, assuming he can make it back from his injury.
Browns: Baker Mayfield
Unless Freddie Kitchens’ eventual replacement decides otherwise, Mayfield should be under center in Cleveland
Bengals: Nick Foles
Cincinnati could trade their high pick for Foles, a proven quarterback when healthy.
Ravens: Lamar Jackson*
AFC South
Colts: Jacoby Brissett*
Titans: Ryan Tannehill
He has more than earned the starting job, as well as a long-term deal.
Texans: Deshaun Watson*
Jaguars: Gardner Minshew
His magic is real and the Jaguars believe in it.
AFC West
Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes*
Raiders: Andy Dalton
He just seems like a Gruden guy, and his price may not be too steep.
Chargers: Dak Prescott
If the Cowboys saw Prescott as the long-term solution, Jerry Jones would have extended his contract already. He’s clearly not what the team wants, for some reason.
Broncos: Drew Lock
Joe Flacco likely retire. Unless John Elway brings in another guy (Teddy Bridgewater?) to compete with Lock, the job goes to the youngster.
NFC East
Cowboys: Philip Rivers
They will draft a quarterback but bring in Rivers for a year or two. His fire and intensity will be a perfect fit for Dallas.
Giants: Daniel Jones*
Eagles: Carson Wentz*
Redskins: Dwayne Haskins*
NFC North
Vikings: Kirk Cousins*
Packers: Aaron Rodgers*
Bears: Marcus Mariota
Chicago will bring Mariota in to compete for the starting job with Mitch Trubisky and will win the job in the preseason.
Lions: Derek Carr
Carr may get the boot if the Raiders don’t make the playoffs.
NFC South
Saints: Drew Brees*
Falcons: Matt Ryan*
Buccaneers: Jameis Winston
As hard as it is to believe, Winston should get the backing of his head coach.
Panthers: Cam Newton
Yes, you read that right. Coming back from injury to a new head coach could be a perfect recipe for Newton to succeed once again.
NFC West
49ers: Jimmy Garoppolo*
Seahawks: Russell Wilson*
Rams: Jared Goff
They invested money in Goff by extending his contract, so they will stick with him for another season.
Cardinals: Kyler Murray*
