Cousins Gets Primetime Monkey off His Back in Win Over Cowboys

The Vikings got a much-needed strong showing from franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins on the road against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, winning the game 28-24.

Dallas opened the game by missing a 57-yard field goal, and the Vikings capitalized by converting that into a touchdown catch for Kyle Rudolph. After their second drive, Rudolph received another touchdown and gave Minnesota an early 14-0 lead.

Dallas came roaring back with 14 unanswered of their own, tying the score at 14 apiece before ex-Cowboy Dan Bailey’s 26-yard field goal gave the Vikings a three-point lead going into the halftime break.

Minnesota opened the second half with another field goal drive, giving them a 20-14 lead.

Dallas responded with a 12-yard touchdown catch from Amari Cooper, giving them a 21-20 lead, but that lead wouldn’t last long. Dalvin Cook ran for a two-yard touchdown and, after a two-point conversion for Kyle Rudolph, the Vikings led 28-21.

Dallas put up a field goal, but Dak Prescott threw a Hail Mary interception as time expired, sealing the fate for the Dallas Cowboys.

Kirk Cousins finished the game 23-of-32 with two touchdowns and a passer rating of 111.5.

The victory put Minnesota one game behind Green Bay in the NFC North standings and the Cowboys and the Eagles both sit with the same stats in the NFC East after the Cowboys loss at home. Dallas faces the Detroit Lions next week and Minnesota will face the Denver Broncos.
