Heller’s Week 7 picks

Welcome back to another edition of my weekly picks.

Last week, I went 9-5. My Jets over Cowboys, Cardinals over Falcons, Texans over the Chiefs, and 49ers over Rams “stunner” picks all played out in my favor.

My upset of the Giants over the Patriots, however, did not. Also, a bad call cost me my Lions upset pick over the Packers.

Without further ado, here are my picks for Week 7, complete with three upset picks.

Chiefs 27, Broncos 17

The Chiefs, coming off back-to-back losses, should rebound against their division rivals. However, if the Chiefs lose this game the Madden Curse debate will be alive and well.

Jaguars 24, Bengals 27 (upset)

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor will get his long-awaited first NFL victory. Minshew Magic will continue to disintegrate.

Rams 27, Falcons 20

While the Rams, like the Chiefs, have been faltering the last couple weeks, few teams are faltering worse than the Falcons. After this game, there will be major rumblings in Atlanta.

Dolphins 14, Bills 27

I was tempted to pick the upset here, but there is no chance the Dolphins beat the Bills, who are coming off their bye week. Josh Allen will throw two touchdowns, and Frank Gore will have a big day on the ground against one of his former teams.

Vikings 42, Lions 40

After a bogus illegal use of hands to the face call set up the game-winning field goal by Green Bay’s Mason Crosby, the Lions have another game against a division rival. Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook, and co. will edge out Matthew Stafford and the Lions.

Raiders 30, Packers 33

Much of the same, Aaron Rodgers will lead a game-winning fourth-quarter drive against Jon Gruden’s Raiders.

Texans 31, Colts 34 (upset)

This AFC South matchup features the two teams that defeated the Chiefs in back to back weeks. The Colts are coming off their bye week, which will prove beneficial for their battered secondary. Houston’s Deshaun Watson has great weapons at his disposal, but Jacoby Brissett and Marlon Mack will get the better of the Texans in this one.

Cardinals 21, Giants 27

There’s the possibility Saquon Barkley returns for this game. Either way, I think the Giants win. If he plays, the point totals could be higher. Daniel Jones will make the key plays and get the victory against Kyler Murray, ending Arizona’s two-game winning streak.

Chargers 17, Titans 24

Few teams have been less consistent than the Titans, but in back-to-back weeks, the Los Angeles Chargers have lost to a winless team and an undrafted third-string quarterback. Ryan Tannehill gets the nod for Tennesse on Sunday, and he will be aided by the running game. Derrick Henry should have success against a defense that James Conner and the Broncos’ double-headed monster of Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman have had great success against in the past two games.

49ers 34, Redskins 10

This game has blowout written all over it. The 49ers are rolling on offense, defense, and special teams. The Redskins got their first taste of victory last week against the Dolphins.

Saints 17, Bears 13

Teddy Bridgewater has played great, and I just can’t pick against him. Sure, the Bears’ defense is an entirely different animal than the Jaguars or the Cowboys, but their offense isn’t effective without Mitchell Trubisky. Bridgewater will successfully continue to keep the seat warm for Drew Brees.

Ravens 24, Seahawks 30

Russell Wilson and the Seahawks will edge out another victory, this time getting the better of Lamar Jackson and the Ravens

Eagles 34, Cowboys 30

Both of these teams are coming off a loss. The Eagles will bounce back with a win against the rival Cowboys and also be in sole possession of first place in the NFC East.

Patriots 20, Jets 24 (upset)

I’ve picked the Patriots to get upset twice this season, and yet they are 0-6. The third time is the charm. The Jets, coming off their first win of 2019, will make it two in a row.

2024 NFL Bold Predictions: AFC West

The AFC West had little to talk about beyond the Kansas City Chiefs. The Los Angeles Charges have been the next closest team to make something happen, but they inevitably fall short. The Denver Broncos have been what some might call a dumpster fire or a QB carousel, and the Las Vegas Raiders have been…well…Raidering.
