The Miami Dolphins and DeVante Parker a finalizing an extension that would pay the wide receiver $13 million over the next two seasons, NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero hears.
My understanding is Parker's deal will be worth up to $13 million with incentives. https://t.co/ANrQfO08s7

A first-round pick in 2015, Parker and the Dolphins seemed to be heading separate ways after mid-season rumors that Parker might be traded, and later rumors that nearly guaranteed Parker would be cut this offseason. The new deal nullifies the fifth-year option for the 2019 season, so Parker is under contract through the 2020 season.
At the same time, the move makes sense for Miami, who already released Danny Amendola this week. It is much easier for teams that are struggling to sign internal players compared to external free agents, who would favor a team in a better situation 99 percent of the time.
In 2018, the Louisville product started seven of the 11 games he appeared in, hauling in just more than 50 percent (24 of 47) passes headed his way and finding the end zone once.
Parker’s role with Miami going forward is still a bit unclear, as the team has a large chance of drafting a receiver in the upcoming draft, while receivers already on the roster may be able to out-play Parker before the season begins. Nonetheless, Miami re-signing Parker for the 2019 and 2020 seasons should prove to be beneficial for the struggling organization.
