The Carolina Panthers came into Week 8 following a bye week last week and were looking to give the San Francisco 49ers their first loss of the season, but the 49ers came out strong at home and handed the Panthers a resounding 51-13 loss.
San Francisco received the ball first and after a lengthy 11-play opening drive Jimmy Garoppolo connected with Emmanuel Sanders for a four-yard touchdown pass, putting the Niners up 7-0.
Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly intercepted a pass intended for George Kittle on the ensuing 49er drive, giving the ball back to the Carolina. The Panthers capitalized on the interception when Joey Slye kicked a 41-yard field goal and put Carolina on the board.
Tevin Coleman rushed for a 19-yard score to extend the lead, before Allen threw a pass intended for Curtis Samuel, but instead was intercepted by Emmanuel Moseley for Allen’s first NFL interception.
San Francisco capitalized on the interception, and in their first drive of the second quarter, Garoppolo threw a 10-yard pass to Coleman for the touchdown, extending the lead to 21-3 with 12:43 to play in the half.
Coleman’s stellar game continued as he took the ball 48 yards for a rushing touchdown following the two-minute warning timeout in the next drive. The score was now 27-3 after a failed two-point try, and this would be the score at halftime, with the 49ers up 24 points.
In San Fran’s first second-half drive, Bruce Irvin sacked Garoppolo in the end zone, giving the Panthers two points on the board with a safety. Carolina took the ensuing free kick and totaled its first touchdown of the game when Christian McCaffrey rushed the ball for a 40-yard touchdown. McCaffrey rushed it again to add two points to the touchdown score, 27-13 and 11:15 on the clock.
However, that would be as close as Carolina would get. A 20-yard rushing touchdown by rookie Deebo Samuel, two Panthers interceptions with an ensuing touchdown and field goal respectively made it 44-13, and the Panthers ran out of gas.

Raheem Mostert finished it off with 41-yard scamper for the seventh 49ers’ touchdown of the game and reaching the final score of 51-13.
The Panthers head home for week nine and will face the Tennessee Titans and the 49ers will travel to Glendale, Arizona to face the Cardinals in Thursday Night Football on Halloween night, Oct. 31.
