What can the Red Sox Expect From Chaim Bloom?

As the Boston Red Sox celebrate their newest hiring at General Manager, they must get to work on the offseason plan.

In the meantime, what can the fan expect from Chaim Bloom?

The 36-year-old is coming off a 15-year tenure with AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays. According to the Rays official website, “Bloom’s experience spans every area in baseball operations. His responsibilities expanded to include contract negotiation, salary arbitration, budgets and oversight of major league support staff and international scouting. He also focused on trade negotiations, pro, amateur, and international scouting philosophy, personnel additions and changes throughout baseball operations, and short- and long-term strategic planning for the department.”

He is also a graduate of Yale University in 2004.

Many colleagues and fellow baseball personnel have great reviews and comments about Bloom. He seems to be one of the most liked front office staff in the industry. He has experience in contract negotiations, operations experience, and, most importantly, player development experience. As we all know Dombrowski couldn’t keep the farm system, so having a gm such as Bloom, the team’s future draft success is in great hands.

He is also rumored to be a salary slasher type of guy. Which fits perfectly with the team’s new model for success. In particular, it could be bad for others who do not want to hear anything about a potential Mookie Betts trade. Regardless, Welcome to Boston!
