Report: Patriots Trade Duke Dawson

It’s the time of year where rosters need to be cut down to 53. The Patriots decided to cut down on one of their deepest positions: cornerback.

The Patriots traded Cornerback Duke Dawson, a 2017 second-rounder, to the Denver Broncos alongside a 2020 seventh round draft pick. The Patriots received a 2020 sixth round draft pick.

With veteran players like Stephon Gilmore and Jason McCourty, as well as Jonathan Jones, J.C. Jackson, Keion Crossen and a few other strong rookie candidates for the position, Dawson was no longer needed on the team.

Dawson started last season on the injured reserve. After returning midway through the season, he was a healthy scratch with Jackson and Crossen surpassing him.
