Arsenal have won all six points from their first two games in the new Premier League campaign, beating Burnley 2-1 in the opener at the Emirates Stadium.
An early goal from Alexandre Lacazette and second-half winner from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave the Gunners the victory. But it was playmaking Dani Ceballos that took home the Man of the Match with his incredible debut.
Ceballos assisted both goals, and was at the heart of the Arsenal attack. The way he glided past defenders and had the opposition on strings with his passing had Arsenal fans in awe of their one-year loanee.
Though Arsenal will be disappointed to not have won by a larger margin, as Burnley is a relegation favorite this season. But with outstanding performances from several players, the tight scoreline is to no worry for Unai Emery’s side.
Emery fielded another weaker starting eleven for this match, including the likes of Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson, while Lucas Torreira and Nicolas Pepe were on the bench. Fitness is clearly the main issue with selection for several players, as Arsenal’s record signing looked a little rusty when coming in at halftime, but gave a highlight to remember on his debut when nutmegging Ben Mee.
Burnley’s lone goal came from Ashley Barnes, who made it his third goal in two games. A defensive error led to the goal, as Arsenal seemingly couldn’t clear the ball from their own area and it deflected to Barnes, who tapped it home.
But Aubameyang’s solo effort to cut inside and rifle it to the bottom near-post was the difference in the Gunners’ victory at home.
Arsenal plays their largest match of the campaign next Saturday against UEFA Champions League-winners Liverpool FC, kicking off at 12:30 pm ET.
