Veteran New England Revolution defender Chris Tierney retired from the MLS this past week.
Tierney is the longest-tenured outfield player for the Revolution in history, with 11 seasons spent at the team. The defender finished his career at 32-years-old, ranked among the top four in franchise history in games played, games started, minutes played, assists, and game-winning assists.
The defenders regular season career ends with a total of 246 games played, 220 starts, 13 goals, and 40 assists in 19,4222 minutes played. The Massachusetts native helped the Revolution to the 2008 North American SuperLiga title along with appearances in the MLS Cup in 2014 and the 2016 U.S. Open Cup finals. Tierney earned an MLS All-Star team selection in 2015 and won the Revolution Defender of the Year in 2016, and the Midnight Riders Man of the Year in 2016.
New England selected Tierney with the 13th pick in the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft and he made a long-lasting impact on the club and its fans.
