The road back just got a little bumpier for Julian Edelman as it has been reported that the wide receiver will be suspended for the first four games this season.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted out the news just moments ago.
Patriots WR Julian Edelman is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance enhancing substances policy, league sources tell @FieldYates and me. Suspension is under appeal.

Edelman is still free to practice and play in preseason action and will be barred from team facilities when the regular season opens in September.
It is not known whether the Kent State alum will appeal the suspension but with a presumed exempt roster spot pending for Week one, this opens the door for slot receivers like Phillip Dorsett, Riley McCarron, and Braxton Berrios who are vying for a spot on this team’s 53-man roster.
