Pedroia Slowly Making Way Back Into Lineup

The Boston Red Sox announced they had activated Dustin Pedroia from the disabled list on Friday.

Pedroia had been recovering from left knee surgery performed in October. He made his first start in the lineup for the 2018 season on Saturday batting sixth against the Atlanta Braves. Since his debut, the second baseman has gone 0-for-7 in two games for the Red Sox.

While he may be hit-less, Pedroia is feeling positive.

“I feel good,” Pedroia told the Boston Globe after a 7-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. “I’ve hit the ball good, just right to them.”

While he is eager to get back into the normal rotation, Pedroia is out of the lineup Monday against the Blue Jayes, Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reports. The suspicion for his absence is strictly maintenance-related, as Pedroia played nine innings in the field both of the past two games.

Eduardo Nunez will get the nod in place of Pedroia for the series opener, but Pedroia should return to the starting nine Tuesday.
