Patriots Announcing Great Passes Away

On a sad night, the New England Patriots and their fans say goodbye to hall of fame announcer Gil Santos who passed away tonight on his 80th birthday.

Santos is famous for his calls and deep baritone voice that would come through the airwaves as smooth as silk.

The great said in his hall of fame induction speech how lucky he was to have the life he had with family, friends, and football.

“I am a very lucky man, because my whole life has been great,” Santos said to fans. “Good parents, good brother, good upbringing, good friends and good family,” he said. “I got the job I wanted. Made a living over 50 years working in a job that I love to do. Yeah I was a lucky guy, absolutely.”

Santos is also famous for his call of Adam Vinatieri’s game winning field goal in Super Bowl XXXVI and his great calls during the “Snow Bowl.”
