Celtics Notebook: Rozier Shines in First Start

A trip out to Oracle Arena to meet the Golden State Warriors proved problematic for the C’s, as 49 points from Steph Curry was too much to overcome.  Kyrie Irving has 37 points in the losing effort.

The Celts wrapped up their west coast road trip on Monday in Denver with a thrilling 101-100 victory over the Nuggets.  Irving lead the way for Boston with 27 points while Nikola Jokic had 24 for Denver.

The Celtics came back to Boston for a matchup with the Knicks, and overcame 17 points and 17 rebounds from Enes Kanter for the 103-73 win. Marcus Morris poured in 20 points before leaving the game with a hip injury, and Terry Rozier added a triple-double in the victory.

 

Rozier’s First Career Triple-Double

With Kyrie Irving and Marcus Smart both out with injuries, Celtics guard Terry Rozier turned took advantage first career start, turning into his first career triple-double on Wednesday night against the Knicks.  Tallying 17 points, 10 assists and 11 rebounds, Rozier lead the Celtics to a win against New York.

“It just worked out perfect for me,” Rozier said to reporters after the game. “I got to knock down some shots in the beginning of the game, hit the open man, I’m always going to get in there and rebound. Just a great night.”

 

Suns Release Greg Monroe

The Phoenix Suns have reached an agreement with Greg Monroe on a contract buyout, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.  Monroe was averaging 11.2 points and eight rebounds in 23 minutes of action with Phoenix.  Monroe is set to become a free agent now, and the Celtics could use their $8.4 million player exception to sign him with no penalty.
