If you have wondered why many fans are excited for the month of August, traditionally a time for the NBA to be in sleep mode, there is a simple reason for that: it’s when the schedules are released. Then, they can see what games to watch out for.

Let us check and see what’s unique about the schedules of those teams in the Southwest Division.

Dallas Mavericks

On Nov. 24, the Mavericks will be playing in Miami. They will then have three full days of rest before playing back-to-back games in Los Angeles (Lakers and Clippers). Will they pass by Dallas for a quick stop at home? Or will they just make that cross-country flight from Florida to California after the Miami game?

Houston Rockets

Take note of the number of back-to-back games that do not involve travel. They will have seven of those sets in Houston’s Toyota Center. Additionally, they have a two-day stay in Utah to play the Jazz twice. So, all in all, they have eight sets of back-to-back games that won’t require them to hop on a plane the next day.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs are having a fast start for the year, and they better keep that up. Almost all opponents they will face in their final 20 games are expected to be in the NBA Playoffs or Play-In Tournament. That stretch includes three games against the Los Angeles Clippers and another three against the Denver Nuggets.

Memphis Grizzlies

A six-game homestand is quite rare for the Grizzlies. How rare? They will have one this year, and it will be their first since January 2020, which was around two months before the COVID-19 lockdown. Unpacking their bags and sleeping in their own homes should be a new feeling for them.

New Orleans Pelicans

How many nationally televised games will this team have? That would be two. Why is that? They have a slimmed-down Zion Williamson, right? That alone should be interesting enough to watch. Maybe they are expecting him to have another injury-riddled season. If he is not playing, then no one would be watching anyway.
