ToggleThe last time we saw the Chiefs play in a meaningful game, their bid at a Super Bowl three-peat fell shy against the Philadelphia Eagles. Their defense continues to trend upward in 2025 and could be one of the main reasons why they make a deep playoff run. Of course, there’s also Patrick Mahomes, whose Hall of Fame-caliber quarterbacking skills elevate those around him, including Xavier Worthy and Travis Kelce.
The Chargers’ two big storylines both surround their offense. The first is rookie running back Omarion Hampton, a North Carolina product set to operate as the Bolts’ lead running back. He’s the fun part of this rundown. The unfortunate part of this rundown is that offensive tackle Rashawn Slater suffered a torn patellar tendon, sidelining him for the entire 2025 season. Slater was a top-tier protector, so his absence will be felt by Hampton, Najee Harris, Justin Herbert, and others.

The Chiefs are three-point favorites in a game that should be relatively high-scoring. We could see the Chiefs’ defense slow down Los Angeles, but for the most part, this Mahomes vs. Justin Herbert matchup should lead to plenty of points.
What To Watch For
The Chiefs’ offense will be very interesting to watch. On one hand, we’ll have to see if the Chiefs can adapt to losing Rashee Rice, who is suspended for six games. On the other hand, we might see flashes of a big season to come from both Travis Kelce and Isiah Pacheco.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the field, Hampton remains a must-watch player after he stood out at North Carolina. There should also be plenty of eyes on the passing game, especially as Keenan Allen makes his return to Los Angeles to operate alongside last year’s breakout rookie, Ladd McConkey.
