With every season that passes, the Big Three era of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden slips further away. Yes, a decent scorer arrived in the form of Mikal Bridges, but even he is no longer with the Nets.
Fast-forward to today, and you will see a superstar-less team that is starting from scratch.
Let’s look back at some of the team’s happier times and, at the same time, see which guys are going to have a big role next season.
Praise for the Coach
A lot of NBA players, G-League players, and executives have respect for first-year coach Jordi Fernandez. He does not shy away from making big decisions or trusting young players, as well as the old ones. Maybe it’s because he started out in player development and worked his way up the coaching ladder.
Drew’s Time
Hopefully, Drew Timme will remain in the NBA for a long time. The former college star brought Gonzaga to the top of the rankings before finally getting some playing time on the big stage. He had been bouncing around in the G League for the past two years, in case you were wondering.
It’s officially Timme Time ⏰🔥

Cam’s Scoring
Cam Thomas played less than 30 games this season. That was a big hit because scoring at least 20 points in any game was automatic for him. Even his assists are starting to rise lately. Not bad for a guy who was battling a hamstring injury throughout the season.
The Two Johnsons
Cameron Johnson and Keon Johnson have stepped up so far. The two took up starring roles and would sometimes take turns in leading the team offensively. Cameron’s points per game and assists per game have increased compared to previous seasons. Keon, on the other hand, has been playing close to 30 minutes a game now.

Impressive West Coast Trip
A three-game excursion to California and Arizona was a high moment for the squad. The Nets blew a 19-point lead in Sacramento but somehow escaped with the win. The next day, the team’s 18-point comeback win deflated the Golden State Warriors. Lastly, in Phoenix, Tyrese Martin having eight three-pointers on his way to a 30-point performance was enough for the Nets to dismantle the Phoenix Suns.
