Bengals vs. Chiefs: Week 2 Preview, Betting Odds, TV Info

Chiefs, Bengals

After defeating the Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs will face another formidable opponent—Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Cincinnati Bengals march into Arrowhead looking to get their first win of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs. Last week, the Bengals struggled against the New England Patriots, with the offense not finding its rhythm thanks to changes in the offseason. Their defense was struggling as well. They’ve been the most formidable adversary for Patrick Mahomes and his team, but despite Cincinnati’s 3-2 record over the Chiefs in the past five seasons, they have dropped the last two in a row. Joe Burrow is coming off the injury he suffered last season and may have been a little rusty so one could consider the game against the Patriots as a warm-up. However, the true test for him and his team is against the Chiefs.

The Chiefs started the season close to where they left off. Many might say the win over the Baltimore Ravens was pure luck, and barely a toe over the line may have saved them from a loss. They are looking to keep rolling towards the three-peat, and it looks like they’re on the right path. Xavier Worthy seems to be Tyreek Hill‘s heir apparent, but he still has a long way to go and more experience to gain. Also, if the offensive line doesn’t protect Burrow more, players like George Karlaftis and Chris Jones might have a better chance of betting on Burrow. If they can force sacks or, better yet, fumbles, then the Chiefs might not have to wait until the last minutes of the game to see if they win by a toe.

Betting Odds

Odds courtesy of DraftKings.

Point Spread: KC -6(-112)  |  CIN +6(-108)
Moneyline: KC -270  |  CIN +220
Over/Under: KC 48(-110)  |  CIN 48(-110)

The Chiefs are favored to win the game. Last season, the Bengals won two of the five games they were underdogs in, but keep in mind that Cincinnati had one win against the spread as a six-point underdog or greater. Picking the under for the game might be a good plan, given that last season, the Chiefs had above 48 in three games and the Bengals in eight.

What To Watch For

If the Bengals lose, look for speculation about whether Burrow’s wrist is fully healed. If Tee Higgins is still out in this Week 2 matchup, look for Burrow to depend on Ja’Marr Chase. On the other hand, look for Kansas City’s defense to continue doing what they do best. Travis Kelce may see more of the ball, but with the weapons the Chiefs have, anything can happen.
