Carson Beck’s Strengths

Prototypical build that produces strong torque and good velocity on the football, complemented by a quick release. He possesses the best pocket mechanics in his class due to his ability to synchronize his eyes, shoulders, and feet, resulting in a smooth and consistent delivery. Good pocket awareness and solid pocket mobility to evade pressure while maintaining focus downfield during pocket navigation and progression reads. Demonstrates good poise in the pocket, reflecting his maturity. Excels in play-action from under center, with the ability to quickly pivot his head and scan the field post-snap. Showcases good anticipation of passing windows and precise ball placement across all areas and levels of the field, often putting his receivers in yards after catch (YAC) opportunities.

Carson Beck’s Weaknesses

Beck lacks experience as he has only one full year of starts in his career. When he is forced out of the pocket and required to execute unstructured throws while on the move, his precision and decision-making skills diminish, leading to missed targets or risky throws that could result in interceptions. Needs consistency when under pressure within the pocket structure.

Summary

Beck excels at quickly identifying the defense both pre-snap and post-snap, demonstrating a strong understanding of defensive strategies. Able to recognize post-snap coverage rotations and effectively pinpoint the weakness. With an additional full offseason of development and a season’s worth of experience in learning various coverages, he could emerge as the most pro-ready quarterback from the recent two classes. He displays good football IQ, the ability to progress through all three levels, and the capacity to maintain focus downfield even when under pressure.
