Final Score: Kansas City Chiefs 31, Las Vegas Raiders 17
The Kansas City Chiefs faced a deficit of 14 points. It may have looked dire, but they rallied, outscoring the Las Vegas Raiders 31-3. It’s also the third-largest comeback of Patrick Mahomes‘s career. It was amazing to see the Chiefs defeat a division rival 31-17.
Fans might have been holding their breaths when the Chiefs were down by 14 points with hardly any yards of offense to their name. However, this season, they are 3-0 following a defeat. Not a bad stat to have. The touchdown by Isiah Pacheco at the end of a 12-play, 71-yard scoring series was the catalyst for the turnaround. Pacheco would eventually get another touchdown, making this game the first multi-score game of his career.
To top it off for the Chiefs:
- George Karlaftis now has eight sacks on the season
- Travis Kelce surpassed the 11,000-yard mark for his career
- Mahomes is now 16-3 following a loss
- Andy Reid now holds the record for most wins in the history of the Chiefs franchise
The Raiders may have gotten off to a great start; however, once the Chiefs started going, they seemed to run out of gas. Jakobi Meyers caught six of seven targets for 79 yards and a touchdown, making it one of the best games for him as a Raider. Aidan O’Connell completed 23 of 33 for 248 yards and a touchdown. He was looking better than he had the previous week against the Miami Dolphins. The Raiders appeared to have issues with short-yardage throws from the Chiefs.
What do the Raiders get?
- Maxx Crosby, despite being injured, sacked Mahomes
- They are now 12th in the AFC Standings
- Divine Deablo struggled, especially when guarding Kelce
- Three percent chance of making the playoffs, barely above the New York Giants and New York Jets

Looking Forward
The Raiders have their bye this upcoming week, which will give Crosby more time to heal. He probably should not have played this past Sunday, but when it is a division rival, all bets are off. After their bye, there are five games left for the Raiders, three of which are home games. Unfortunately, there is no playoff bid on the horizon this season. With the release of Marcus Peters, it looks like the Raiders are wanting to let the rest of this season play out and work on retooling and getting a head coach.
The Chiefs have a clear vision of the playoffs. Right now, it is just where they might end up. Kansas City has the same record as both the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars. Luckily, Kansas City owns the head-to-head tie-breakers over each. Additionally, they own the tie-breaker over the Baltimore Ravens. Green Bay is around the corner for the Chiefs, and if they can defeat the Packers, then they are looking like they will be in the top spot in the AFC (thanks to Baltimore being on a bye week).
