Gates’ Top NFL Team From Week 11

NFL Week 11 Team of the Week, Tush Push, Eagles-Chiefs

Week 11 in the NFL has wrapped up. Last week, the top team was the Houston Texans following their big win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

The top team from Week 11 is the Philadelphia Eagles, who won in a Monday Night Football showdown for the ages. (A good primetime game? In this economy?!)

Run It Down Their Throats

Since the weather at Arrowhead Stadium was not ideal for passing, the Eagles stuck to the old ground-and-pound style of football. Philly had 114 total rushing yards, largely thanks to D’Andre Swift‘s 12 carries for 76 yards (6.3 yards per carry) and one touchdown. In addition to those rushing yards, Swift had three catches for 31 yards through the air (10.3 yards per catch). However, behind Swift was quarterback Jalen Hurts. He had the same amount of carries as Swift, and while he tallied just 29 yards (2.4 yards per carry), he did score two touchdowns.

DeVonta Smith Gonna DeVonta Smith

Even in a bad-weather game with the rushing game on display, DeVonta Smith was able to gain 90-plus yards. He had six receptions for 99 yards (16.5 yards per catch), which paced both teams.

Eagles D Stops Chiefs O

Philadelphia’s defense was able to ground an offense that featured the omnipotent Patrick Mahomes. Recent acquisition Kevin Byard picked off Mahomes, and he also led the team with eight solo tackles. Reed Blankenship and Zach Cunningham followed Byard with six solo tackles and one assisted tackle each. Haason Reddick was able to sack Mahomes, and the unit held him Mahomes to 177 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Punting Shoutout

Punters are always overlooked in the NFL. Eagles punter Braden Mann deserves plenty of credit for his seven punts and 334 net yards. He even landed one punt inside the 20-yard line; pinning a Mahomes offense deep in their own territory is so crucial.

The Chiefs ultimately lost to the Eagles by a score of 17-21. The Eagles won because of their run game, defense, and the Chiefs’ receivers dropping the ball. The Eagles looked like the best team in the NFL for Week 11.
