Week 6 of the NFL season was insane.
Both undefeated teams (San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles) suffered their first losses of the year. The Miami Dolphins let the winless Carolina Panthers take a 14-point lead in the first quarter before storming back to win. The Buffalo Bills needed Tyrod Taylor’s clock-management gaffe in order to beat the New York Giants.
Oh, and every team is injured to hell and back.
However, there was one team that played consistent, dominant football. That team is the Detroit Lions who took down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, extending the Creamsicle jersey curse.
The Lions are now the first team this season to receive multiple Team of the Week selections. They first took home the award in Week 1 versus Kansas City.

The Bucs Couldn’t Beat Goff
The Buccaneers fell victim to the kneecap-biting offense of the Detroit Lions, led by quarterback Jared Goff. In this game, Goff finished 30-for-44 with 353 yards and two touchdowns. Those scores went to Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. Williams found the end zone in just his second game back from a gambling suspension. Perhaps he took the over on Goff’s passing yards Sunday.

Spreading the Ball
One thing that all great NFL teams do is spread the ball around. The Lions have been afforded this ability with three receivers St. Brown, Williams, and Josh Reynolds, all of whom eclipsed 50 yards versus Tampa Bay. St. Brown led the team with 12 receptions for 124 yards and one touchdown.
Lions’ Defense
The Lions’ defense was able to sack Baker Mayfield once, courtesy of Julian Okwara, and pick him off (Will Harris notched the interception). Furthermore, three separate players tallied four or more tackles (Alex Anzalone with seven, Tracy Walker III with five, and Kerby Joesph with four). This defense held Chris Godwin to six receptions and 77 yards while limiting Pro Bowler Mike Evans to just four receptions for 49 yards.

This week of football was very confusing. Good teams looked bad (Eagles, 49ers, and Bills). Bad teams looked good (Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers for a quarter, New York Giants, and the Washington Commanders). The lists go on and on.
More than half the league was held to fewer than 20 points on Sunday. Nevertheless, the Detroit Lions seemed to be the one good team that came to play. They are now tied for first place in the NFC.
