Now that Week 2 has ended, the good teams are starting to separate themselves from the bad teams. Among those teams? The Seattle Seahawks, who defeated the Detroit Lions by a score of 37-31 in overtime.
Narratives Opon Narratives
The narrative throughout the week leading up to this game was that the Lions were the team to beat. (They were also last week’s Team of the Week after beating the defending Super Bowl champions in primetime.) The Seahawks not only beat the Lions in overtime but took care of business at Ford Field.
A WR Trio Forming in Seattle
There are obvious wide receiver duos in the NFL, such as the Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle or the Cincinnati Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. But Seattle may have an underrated wide receiver trio in D.K Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njiba. In this game, these three combined for 19 receptions, 168 yards, and two touchdowns.
Geno Smith: The Comeback Kid (Season 2)
Last season, Geno Smith had his revenge year after taking over for Russell Wilson. Everyone (and I mean everyone) wrote Smith off in the offseason. Guess what? He didn’t write back. The veteran had a career renaissance season, but there were still doubts about whether he could have another big year in 2023. He silenced those doubts with a 328 yards and two touchdowns performance versus a good Lions secondary.
KW9 Continues
Kenneth Walker III continued his strong start, logging 17 carries for 43 yards and two touchdowns. He continues to look like a weapon on offense for the Seahawks.
Week 2 is in the books. It’s still very early to differentiate between contenders and pretenders. These next few weeks will give us a better idea about who the top teams in the NFL are.
