The New England Patriots and James White have agreed to a three-year deal which will keep the running back with the club through 2020.

Ian Rapoport reported the deal has a $12 million base salary with $4.69 million guarenteed White has the opportunity to earn a maximum of $15 million throughout the next three years.

White has played a key role in both the air attack and ground game since his selection in the 2014 draft out of the University of Wisconsin. Tom Brady has had nothing but good things to say about White since winning the Super Bowl,

“James White is like my oldest son,” Brady said.

The multi-purpose back had his best performance in Super Bowl LI, the game in which the Patriots came back from a 25 point deficit in the second half. White finished the Super Bowl with just six carries for 29 yards on the ground with most of the damage done through the air with 14 receptions for 110 yards, and three total touchdowns which included the game winning score in overtime.

This move only bolsters an already stacked roster for the 2017-18 season as the Patriots look to repeat and win their sixth championship.
