MLB DFS The Mid-Summer Classic

MLB DFS Mid-Summer Classic

This is a one-of-a-kind Showdown for DFS on DraftKings tonight, and there are a few tactics we need to be aware of when choosing players in this game. One big difference is that the starter will not likely get the win or even go more than an inning or two. Along those same lines, hitters may only get one or two shots at getting a hit. The thing to remember here is that the hitters will be the way to go.

For example, if a pitcher throws two perfect innings and strikes out all six batters, he still only gets 16.50 points on DK. Whereas a hitter gets 14 points for a solo home run alone. The play here will be to go for batters who have power and may get more than an at-bat.

With all of that being said, your lineup really comes down to who will have the home runs or extra-base hits. There isn’t going to be much analysis here because it is one game against a random pitcher with the exception of the first few in the lineup battling Clayton Kershaw and Shane McClanahan. Here is what one of my lineups tonight will look like.

Captain

Paul Goldschmidt ($7,500)

This price at Captain seems criminal as Goldy is batting fourth in the NL lineup. If McClanahan struggles, the Cardinals first baseman will be up with likely at least one man on base. I’ll take this and spend a ton more on the rest of my guys.

Utility

Mookie Betts – ($9,600), Manny Machado – ($8,000), Trea Turner – ($8,400)

These are the guys that surround Goldschmidt and a beautiful stack at that. The two through five hitters in the NL lineup can do damage immediately against a young lefty on the big stage. If the Rays ace has a tough time with the nerves and the talent he is facing off the bat, this could win you some cash before we are out of the first inning.

Valdimir Guerrero Jr. ($7,200)

This is a pretty cheap price and like Goldy, if Guerrero is batting in the first innings against Kershaw, he will be doing so with a runner on base most likely. Can’t really go wrong here with Vladdy swinging for the fences against the best pitcher of our generation. Hopefully he connects with one.

Kyle Schwarber ($9,000)

Here is the one non-starter I have in my lineup. Schwarber bowed down to Albert Pujols in the first round of last night’s HR Derby. Tonight, I have a feeling he gets in the game and tanks one to show that his recent regular season run of bombs is more indicative of his talent than last night’s debacle.

A Few Others

Corey Seager ($7,800)
Rafael Devers ($7,400)
Xander Bogaerts ($5,200)

Good Luck with all of your DFS lineups and we will catch you on the other side of the All-Star Break.
