MLB DFS Sweet Brandon Sunday

MLB DFS Sweet Brandon Sunday

In case you missed it, we kicked a little ass on Friday with our late-night lineup. Thanks in part to Clayton Kershaw‘s almost perfecto, and Mike Yastrzemski‘s walk-off granny, the lineup cashed and put up 172.95 points on DraftKings. Today I will go with a similar tactic for the 10-game 1:35 DFS slate.

One thing to keep an eye out for today when making up your lineups is that teams may be giving some players an extra day off heading into the All-Star break. So, as always, make sure your players are starting about 15 minutes before first pitch to allow you to pivot if needed. Let’s finish the first half strong.

Be sure to check us out daily for our DFS content.

On the Mound

Dylan Cease @ Minnesota Twins ($9,000)

Cease has been absolutely dominant this year, but particularly over his last seven starts. In that time, he owns a 0.69 ERA and has struck out 37.2 percent of the batters he has faced. The White Sox ace has whiffed at least eight in six of those games and is allowing a .586 OPS. Surprisingly, this will be the first time Cease faces the Twins this season, giving him a slight advantage over a pretty good Minnesota lineup.

David Peterson @ Chicago Cubs ($7,800)

The Mets lefty has been solid all year, but especially over his last five starts. Peterson is getting swings and misses more lately striking out at least seven in each of those outings. It has helped him average 22.3 DFS points over that time. He follows up three right-handers to face an awful Cubs lineup. Chicago has scored just seven runs in their last five and have failed to score four runs in 12 of their 15 games this month.

On the Dirt

Catcher – Austin Hedges ($2,100)

I generally punt the catcher position. It is a wasteland and is one position that is a crapshoot nearly every game. This is especially true on Sunday afternoons when the backups usually get their time in the lineup. Hedges is about the cheapest we can get, and he has two hits in each of his last two games. He was also off yesterday so he should be behind the dish for today’s tilt.

First Base – Brandon Drury ($5,000)

Drury continues his resurgence and will be looking to be an exclamation point on his excellent first half. He has a nine-game hitting streak going and is averaging 10.4 DFS points in that time. He has a 1.032 OPS against lefties this year and gets to face Steven Matz who is making his first start since May 22. Matz had given up seven home runs in his three games before being injured.

Second Base – Brandon Lowe ($4,300)

Lowe saw his first game action for the Rays in two months last night. He put up DFS 14 points with a couple of hits and scored three of Tampa Bay’s four runs. Although opposing pitcher Jordan Lyles has looked good his last few outings, the Rays have scored at least five runs in seven of their 11 matchups with the Orioles this season.

Third Base – Yoan Moncada ($3,500)

Take advantage of this price now. It looks like Moncada is starting to get hot. He got his average over .200 for the first time since May and is 7-for-16 in his last four games. He gets to face Chris Archer who is making his first start in the month of July. Archer has been tough to hit this year but has also walked 30 batters in just 61.1 innings.

Shortstop – Francisco Lindor ($5,200)

The Mets shortstop is currently riding a 10-game hitting streak. During that stretch he has only 12 hits, but five of them have gone for extra bases including three homers. Lindor is also averaging 10.2 points and has reached nine points in eight of those games. Adrian Sampson will be making his fifth start of the year. While he has been decent, Lindor and the Mets should be able to finish of the sweep today.

On the Grass

Cedric Mullins ($4,500)

The 30-30 man from a year ago may not be hitting the homers like he did, but at least he is still swiping bags. Mullins has 19 steals on the year and three in his last four games. He faces right-hander Corey Kluber today. While the 36-year-old has been solid sporting a 3.58 ERA with his usual impeccable control, Mullins has done well head-to-head against Klubot going 6-for-15 in his career.

Brandon Nimmo ($4,500)

We finish our trifecta of Brandons here. Nimmo has struggled a bit overall this season, but he is still dangerous. He has nine home runs on the year and four of them have come over his last 13 games. He has put up double-digit points in seven of those contests. He faces the Cubs righty Sampson today and Nimmo has gone deep for seven of his nine bombs against right-handers this season.

Tommy Pham ($4,000)

With $4,100 left to work with, let’s go with another Cincinnati Red to pair with Drury. The Reds should take advantage of Matz just returning from the IL and Pham could be right in the middle of that rude welcome back.

Good Luck with all of your DFS lineups and we will catch you on the other side of the All-Star Break.
