Good morning my fellow degenerates. We have a tidy little seven-game slate for DFS at 1:35 pm EDT on DraftKings. In case you missed it last Sunday, we killed it. Shane Baz and Carlos Carrasco combined for 50.7 DK points while Ryan Mountcastle and Eduardo Escobar both went yard.
As usual, these are pitchers at $8,000 and under along with hitting bargains at $4,000 and under which is gold for your DFS lineups if they produce. It also allows you to stack the rest of your lineup with studs. Let’s get to it.

On the Mound
Jose Quintana @ Milwaukee Brewers ($7,800)
It was only a few years ago that Quintana looked like he might be done at only 31 years old. He has turned back the clock this season for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he has been especially sharp lately. Over his last three outings, the lefty has given up just four earned runs in 17 innings while pitching to a 19/3 K/BB rate. The Brewers don’t hit lefties particularly well with a .683 OPS as opposed to a .745 against right-handers.
Nick Lodolo vs. Tampa Bay Rays ($6,900)
Lodolo is showing what he can do after a dismal debut performance in April against the Cleveland Guardians. In his three starts since then, the southpaw has a 2.35 ERA and has allowed just one homer in 15.1 innings. He has also struck out 35.3 percent of the batters he’s faced. The Rays will be without Wander Franco for the foreseeable future which shortens their lineup a bit.
On the Dirt
Hunter Dozier, 1B ($3,300)
Dozier has hit well in July. Maybe he is worried about Vinnie Pasquantino cutting into his playing time. Whatever it is, Dozier is hitting .375 with a couple of bombs this month. Today, he gets Zach Plesac who he has faced a bunch. Although the Royals 1B/DH is only 4-for-25 against the Guardians starter, of those four hits one is a triple and two left the park. This is a cheap tournament play who could give us a great ROI.
Pivot: Garrett Cooper ($3,100)
Tommy Edman, 2B/SS ($3,400)
The Cardinals switch-hitter is mired in a 1-for-20 slump. Normally, I like to go with the hot hand, but a player of Edman’s talent at this price is too good not to bet on him coming out of it. The Phillies will have Nick Nelson opening and Chris Sanchez doing the bulk work. Neither they nor the rest of Philadelphia’s bullpen scares me.
Pivot: Keston Hiura ($3,000)
Ke’Bryan Hayes, 3B ($3,800)
Here is another guy who is just too good to stay in a slump for long. The last time he went two consecutive starts without a hit, he turned around and put up 12 DK points. Hayes gets to face left-hander Eric Lauer today. While the Pirates third baseman doesn’t hit him very well (1-for-11), Hayes does kill lefties in general slashing .315/.384/.449.
Pivot: Alec Bohm ($3,000)
On the Grass
Steven Kwan ($3,500)
Talk about ups and downs to start a career. Kwan looked like a god in the beginning of the season going 10-for-15 without a strikeout in his first five games. He got snapped back to reality and saw his average drop all the way down to .242 on May 29. Since then, Kwan has gotten himself back on track slashing .315/.381/.387 with four steals. He puts the ball in play and facing Zack Greinke this afternoon plays perfectly to Kwan’s strengths.
