Ángel Di María Joins Juventus

Angel Juventus

Ángel Di María is Juventus’ second free signing this summer. The 34-year-old Argentine midfielder is officially heading to Turin, Italy on a one-year contract. The former star for both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain is ready for the next chapter of his career. Di María follows fellow midfielder Paul Pogba who signed with Juventus last month.

Di María spent the last seven seasons with Paris Saint-Germain. After a brilliant spell with Real Madrid from 2010 to 2014, Di María moved to Manchester United for a then-British record fee of £59.7 million (€75.6 million). Unfortunately, Di María’s spell at Old Trafford lasted only one year, and it was not a good one. His spell with PSG met with tremendous success and he leaves PSG as the club’s all-time assists leader. After amassing a respectable list of accomplishments with PSG and Real Madrid, Di María is determined to do the same with Juventus.

A Dynamic Duo of Di María and Pogba?

Di María’s phenomenal and unique style of play is a major boost of strength for Juventus’ midfield. The addition of Pogba was big for Juventus, but the addition of Di María was only bigger. In Pogba’s case, playing alongside Di María can help him improve. With their combined talent and playing ability, the midfield’s strength largely increases. In Juventus’ case, a stronger midfielder leads to a stronger attack.

For Pogba, his tenure with Manchester United was a disaster. A return to Juventus is his chance to redeem himself and salvage his career. Playing alongside Di María can not only help Pogba improve as a player, but it can help him keep his passion for the game. Di María’s leadership is a positive impact on Pogba as well as other players.

Juventus’ Desire for a Leader and Motivation

At the moment, leadership and motivation are what Juventus needs. The club is coming off a season where they finished fourth in the Serie A standings. In addition, the club went through a season without winning a title for the first time in over ten years. Quite frankly, the club has highly lacked motivation for a long time.

With the recent departure of longtime Juventus player Giorgio Chiellini, the club immediately needed to find a new leader. Now that Di María is part of the club, they may have just found one.
