The United States Men’s National Team has arguably the youngest and brightest golden generation in its history. They failed to qualify for the World Cup four years ago, but this USMNT team has greatly improved since 2018. After failing to win the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup, they went on to win both the Gold Cup and the inaugural CONCACAF Nations League last year.

There is a great deal of talent on the USMNT. Aside from Christian Pulisic, USA has Gio Reyna, Timothy Weah, Weston McKinnie, and the list goes on. In addition, the team can strongly benefit with more and more Americans getting to play in Europe. Major League Soccer continues to grow and expand, further benefitting the national team. The USA is determined to make a brilliant run in Qatar.

What Chance Does the USMNT Have in Qatar?
In the group stage, the United States will face England and Iran. Their third opponent will be either Ukraine or Wales. The USMNT will have their hands full against England, considering England is one of the tournament favorites. The Americans have had a hard time against Iran in the past, and it is certainly not going to be any different this time. As far as Ukraine or Wales, it could go either way for the USA.
While the USMNT faces a major challenge in the group stage, they do have a chance of advancing to the knockout stage. They will face Ukraine or Wales in their opening match, and their second match will be against England. Therefore, the team definitely needs to start their tournament with a resounding win. A draw against England is considered a win for the USA, but they need to find a way to miraculously upset the English. They need to avoid losing to England at all costs. If the USA goes into their match against Iran with a win and (at least) a draw, they should be in good shape and capable of winning.
The USMNT comes into Qatar with a young and talented team. Their run in this tournament is part of the building process for the World Cup four years from now, which the team is set to co-host. The USA has not made it to the quarterfinals since 2002. They are determined to make an impact. Two wins should guarantee a spot in the Round of 16. While it is not going to be easy, it’s definitely not impossible
