Erling Haaland Man City transfer

After their heartbreaking exit from the Champions League, Manchester City is able to deliver some good news just a week later. Erling Haaland is set to join Manchester City on a five-year deal. The 21-year-old Norwegian striker has made a huge name for himself with Borussia Dortmund, scoring a total of 85 goals in 88 appearances for Die Schwarzgelben. Haaland was linked with a move for well over a year now. In fact, he was linked with moves to numerous clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea. Real Madrid has had their eyes on Kylian Mbappé for three years now, so they should just focus on him. The last thing Los Blancos need is to increase their already overloaded roster. Same with Chelsea. Manchester City did take the risk by signing Haaland, but they have always been willing to take risks. Consequently, the same goes for Chelsea and Real Madrid.

What Does Haaland Bring to the Table?

Manchester City needs a young, prolific scorer. They need a player with the potential of having a very bright future in the sport. Furthermore, they need someone that they know will be the team’s playmaker. Haaland could very well be the guy. Last year, the Citizens spent £100 million to acquire Jack Grealish last summer from Aston Villa. Since 2018, they’ve been grooming Phil Foden to be a big part of the team’s future and success. By adding Haaland to the mix, Manchester City is only strengthening their offensive attack.

The Citizens have been chasing the Champions League title for well over half a decade, and they won’t stop until they win it. With that in mind, the more goal-scoring talent they possess, the better. It’s clear that the Citizens are putting some effort into securing and ensuring the safety of the club’s future. Manchester City is merely taking the initiative towards success.
