Nothing gets you over those mid-week doldrums than a big MLB DFS win. With that in mind, we have a seven-game slate beginning at 7:05pm EDT tonight. As usual, I’ll list a few value plays to save some cash for your heavy-hitters. Afterwards, you’ll find a list of higher-priced studs in favorable situations at the end. You’ll be able to pick several of those guys to round out your lineups. Let’s be smart with our cash, use some names your opponents may not use, and build those bankrolls.

Value on the Hill
Freddy Peralta – vs Cincinnati ($8,900)
The Milwaukee starter has steadily improved towards returning to the form we know he’s capable of. In his last two starts (11 IP), he’s allowed a total of six hits and just one run while striking out 13 batters. If Peralta is even a sniff of what he was last season when he went 10-5 with a 2.81 ERA, this price is more than reasonable. He is sitting at 11.5 K/9, just a shade below his career average of 12.1. He’ll get even closer to that average tonight at home against a toothless Reds team that is last in the league in runs scored per game.
Dylan Bundy – at Baltimore ($8,300)
I had hoped to find an even less expensive gem in this slate, but the bottom names leave a lot of questions. Bundy is a safe play at a reasonable cost. He has started four games and earned the win in three of them while compiling a 2.95 ERA with a sub-1.00 WHIP. He’s allowed just seven earned runs in those starts while punching out eight hitters per game. Where Cincinnati is last in the league for runs/game, Baltimore sits just one spot above them, scoring just 3.08 runs per contest. This should be an easy fourth win for Bundy against the team he broke into the majors with.
Value in the Field
Tyler Stephenson, C – at Milwaukee ($3,100) PIVOT: Tyler Heineman ($2,200)
The Reds’ backstop just recently returned from the concussion list. Even before his unexpected two week vacation, he was responsible for being the only player with some punch in the lineup. Prior to that home plate collision, Stephenson was hitting .267 with two home runs and six RBI in just 11 games. Upon his return, he promptly went 0-4. Since he has such a small sample of games under his belt this season, that dropped his average to .235. However, Stephenson showed last year his ability to hit to all fields (or over them). His price point sits perfectly below the top-tier expensive guys and above the nobodies. The truth is, he has just about as much talent as anyone above him for a fraction of the cost tonight.
Sam Hilliard, OF – vs Washington ($3,100) PIVOT: Yonathan Daza ($2,300)
Here’s another opportunity to grab an inexpensive player in a good situation. Anytime you can find some upside for around $3k in order to save up for your big boppers, you take it. Colorado presents a bevy of DFS options tonight against the Nationals, and particularly against lefthander Patrick Corbin. He was atrocious in 2021, and he seems to be trending in the same direction in 2022. Corbin has five starts to his credit, and he is 0-4 with an 8.69 ERA and a WHIP over 2.00. Hilliard is just 8-for-38 on the season, but has a trio of both runs and RBIs and a .649 OPS in a very limited role. He’s getting more opportunities the longer Kris Bryant (back) remains out. Again, this is less about Hilliard’s numbers and more about the opposing pitcher.
If Hilliard does not participate in this lefty-lefty matchup, the logical pivot is Daza, who would likely get the nod from the Rockies in Hilliard’s place. Daza is 10-for-24 (.417) with an .857 OPS, and he’d free up an extra $800 if he plays in place of Hilliard in the Colorado outfield.
Gavin Lux, 2B/OF – vs San Francisco ($4,000)
The Los Angeles second baseman has gotten off to an on-again, off-again start in 2022. On one hand, he’s batting just .259. However, the 24-year-old has crossed the plate 14 times already, has driven in five, and holds a homer and two bases swiped. The .720 OPS is nothing to write home about, but it’s also nothing to sneeze at. His opponent today is Alex Wood taking the bump for the Giants. Wood started the season well before getting touched up by the Nationals for five runs over five innings in his last start. He has yet to pitch past the fifth inning in four starts this season. In a small sample size, Lux has gone 2-for-3 with a double against Wood.
