Week 5
Jacksonville Jaguars 22, Carolina Panthers 24
Gardner Minshew and the Jaguars will crumble at the hands of the shockingly red-hot Carolina Panthers. Kyle Allen will throw for a pair of touchdowns and pick apart a usually strong Jaguars defense.
New England Patriots 41, Washington Redskins 6
Perhaps it’s time we see a handful of changes in Washington. Another loss Sunday will bring them to 0-5, and we might see a change in both quarterback and head coach between the time the final whistle sounds this week and the opening whistle is blown next week.
Buffalo Bills 17, Tennessee Titans 19
The Buffalo Bills opened the season 3-0, but now take two straight losses at the hands of the Patriots and Titans. In what many will deem an upset, this game could be decided by Josh Allen’s injury status when he plays … if he even suits up.
Baltimore Ravens 34, Pittsburgh Steelers 23
Last week’s loss to the Browns really exposed the true Ravens, but they’re still good enough to beat the Steelers by double-digits. A struggling Pittsburgh unit will get their fourth loss on the heels of a false sense of hope in their win vs. Cincinnati.
Arizona Cardinals 20, Cincinnati Bengals 9
Time for a battle between a pair of winless squads. Kyler Murray has better weapons at his disposal and, assuming he uses them appropriately, he should pick up the first win of his career and make Zac Taylor the league’s only winless coach.
Atlanta Falcons 14, Houston Texans 17
The Atlanta Falcons are a mediocre team and the Houston Texans are just a bit better. The Falcons have underperformed greatly, while the Texans may be the best team in their division but are still struggling. This should be a pretty boring game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23, New Orleans Saints 34
The Buccaneers’ performance of the Rams last week wasn’t a fluke, but it’s certainly not a preview of better times ahead. The Buccaneers should be able to find the end zone a few times this week but won’t be able to defeat the Saints.
Minnesota Vikings 20, New York Giants 27
This is undoubtedly the hardest Week 5 game to predict. The Giants have momentum and location on their side, so rookie Daniel Jones should be able to get this team above .500 while knocking the Vikings below that mark.
Chicago Bears 22, Oakland Raiders 21
The Bears have quarterback uncertainty as they travel to London while the Raiders have some momentum on their side, but the Bears still remain the dominant team this week. The Bears will get the win in Khalil Mack’s first game against his old team.
New York Jets 10, Philadelphia Eagles 24
The Jets will be able to score a field goal and a defensive touchdown as Luke Falk continues to struggle in place of Sam Darnold. The Eagles have been playing very good football lately and should have no trouble defeating the Jets.
Denver Broncos 17, Los Angeles Chargers 23
Melvin Gordon is back, and the one-two punch of him and Austin Ekeler is absolutely terrifying. The Broncos’ 0-4 start has been aided by some back luck, but this week’s loss will be handed to them in a fair manner.
Green Bay Packers 17, Dallas Cowboys 31
Davante Adams is out this week, and that will hurt the Packers more than expected. Meanwhile, it remains impossible to pick against the Cowboys. Dallas should win by several possessions.
Indianapolis Colts 27, Kansas City Chiefs 24
Jacoby Brissett has played terrific football. While Patrick Mahomes has played a bit better, Kansas City’s offensive advantage is not as great as Indianapolis’s defensive advantage. The Colts should pick up the win on Sunday Night Football, handing the Chiefs their first loss of the year.
