The Daily Dollar: NFL Best Bets Wild Card Edition (1/16)

We are on a roll with the Daily Dollar bets, and with three huge NFL Wild Card Sunday games it’s time to keep building that bankroll. Playoff games are always a little tricky, but the Cincinnati Bengals’ cover and Buffalo Bills lambasting of the New England Patriots tells me that we have a pretty good road map for today’s games. In the playoffs, anything can happen. What’s important to remember is that the cream always rises to the top. Let’s take a good hard look at the stats and put our cash on the best horse.

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers -7 (-110) and o46  (-110)

Yeah, parlay two bets in this game. Vegas is so wrong on both that this is free money. You can chirp all you want about the Buccaneers’ injuries, but Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are the best in the biz at flipping the playoff switch. Tampa Bay’s defense is not amazing, but has held opponents in check on the ground, resulting in the team being ranked third against the rush. That spells bad news for Philly, who relies on the ground game to a fault. The Bucs will jump ahead early, and Brady is not one to take his foot off the gas. Hurts is going to fill the stat sheet before  succumbing to the exhaustion of trying to play keep up. In the end, the Iggles score enough to eclipse the over (46 points is LOW) but not enough to stay within one score of the defending champs.

Book it: Parlay Tampa Bay -7 and over 46 points scored (-110)

San Francisco 49ers +3.5 (-110) at Dallas Cowboys

This is one of two road wins I’m picking this week, and I don’t just mean for the cover. The other does not come until tomorrow, so it won’t be a part of this week’s Daily Dollar. However, this is a gimme. Dallas is hanging their hat on a dreadful division and wins over the Eagles (9-8), Chargers (9-8), and Patriots (10-7 before today). Anyone else over .500 went down as an ‘L’ for “America’s team. The defense went from pretty good to good to horrible pretty quickly, and the Niners played inspiring football in Week 18. Kyle Shanahan is one of the best coaches in the league. The defense in the secondary is not what it once was for San Francisco, but it’s good enough. On offense they’ll run, run, and run some more. Jimmy Garoppolo staves off his replacement again and the 49ers don’t just cover… they win the game outright.

Book it: San Francisco 49ers +3.5 points

Kansas City Chiefs 1H -7.5 (-110) vs Pittsburgh Steelers

The overall line of -12 is probably a safe bet on KC, but in the NFL (and particularly the playoffs), 12 points is an awful lot to be laying dough on. I think the Steelers could potentially close the gap in this game… actually, I really don’t but just for fun, let’s say it’s possible. At the half, there’s no reason to imagine this game being within one score. the Steelers don’t belong in this postseason. You know it, I know it, and more importantly, the Chiefs and Steelers know it. Kansas City is itching to remind everyone that despite their late-season misgivings, they are still a force to be reckoned with. They are going to come out gunning against the Steelers, and prove that point at home in front of their fans. They’ve played three of their last four on the road. The one at home? 36-10 against Pittsburgh, and they led 23-0 at half. History repeats, so take the money and run.

Book it: Chiefs -7.5 points (-110) first half

Gates Top NFL Team From Week 11 (2024)

Week 11 in the NFL brought more chaos, with at least five games on Sunday being decided by a single score. Notably, the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts won their games by just one point. As a result of their performance, the Buffalo Bills have earned the title of our NFL Team of the Week for the second time this season, having previously received this honor in Week 8.
