The Day Brandin Cooks Became a Patriot

Wide receiver Brandin Cooks before this past week’s matchup against the Houston Texans was almost nowhere to be seen the first few games disappointing the masses.

But one simple crossing pattern touchdown thrown by quarterback Tom Brady awoke the sleeping giant that is the “Brady-Cooks connection”

Cooks would be among one of Brady’s most trusted targets in the game connecting with two passes on the all important final drive including the miraculous toe-tapper put the Patriots in the lead to win the game.

The catch was described by the Oregon State alum as just part of the job as a wide receiver.

“To be honest, your brain knows you’re close,” Cooks said. “I can’t even describe to you what I did or why I did it. I can’t take you through it. It’s just the instincts of a receiver. You know how much space you have, and it’s not much.”

Finishing the game with five receptions for 131 yards and two scores, Cooks outperformed his combined statistics of his first two games with the team.

Despite this coming of age moment in the beginning of his tenure with the team, Cooks says there’s plenty of things to work on.

“It was a great win, but we have a lot of work to do,” Cooks said. “We don’t want to put ourselves in that position again. We’ll have to go back to the drawing board and do what we have to do.”

Cooks definitely sounds like a Patriot, and with him starting now playing like a Patriot, we can now officially say that the receiver has finally “arrived” here in New England.
