CFB Prospects to Watch: Playoff Edition

Playoff

.The end of the college football season marks a significant increase in draft talk. With that, we still have the playoffs to get to and a boatload of draft-eligible prospects to discuss. Some of these guys are first-rounders looking to improve their stock. Others are underrated players looking to make a name for themselves on the national stage. Let’s get into it.

Alabama vs Cincinnati

Alabama Prospect: Jordan Battle – SAF

Talk about a guy fighting for his first-round life. Battle has been mocked in and out of the late first round. There’s no telling where he’ll end up. He’s a safety that is sticky in coverage but is a little bit raw and has got work to do. A big game against Cincinnati’s balanced attack on offense would be huge for battle and potentially propel him into the first round.

Cincinnati Prospect: Coby Bryant – CB

There are a lot of players here who you could argue deserve to be the player chosen but we’ll stick with Bryant. Opposite Bryant, is the cornerback getting all the hype in Ahmad Gardner but Bryant still has something to say for himself coming into this one. He’ll likely match up with Slade Bolden but we should see some monumental reps against Jameson Williams where Bryant can assert that he is a lockdown guy.

Michigan vs Georgia

Michigan Prospect: Andrew Vastardis – C

The Wolverines are a very young team and we all know the bigger names they hold. Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo will likely have big games and have cemented their stock while Daxton Hill is a presumable first-rounder but he may not even play. Then we have Vastardis. The fifth-year senior has been at the core of Michigan’s elite running attack. He is a proven leader out on the field. He now faces one of his biggest tasks in Jordan Davis as Davis will be instrumental if Georgia can blow up the run. Vastardis is a key piece to this Michigan line and can hopefully assert himself as a solid Day 2 pick in this game.

Georgia Prospect: Derion Kendrick – CB

We just touched on how important Davis will be in stopping the run but to beat Michigan you have to make sure the passing game isn’t a threat. Kendrick has ample opportunity to lock down his side of the field and get reps against all types of receivers. Georgia is a team built on defense and nothing would be better for them than making the Wolverines one-dimensional and it all starts with Kendrick and the secondary.

There is a reason why he was available that late, but there’s also a boatload of things to like about this prospect, and the pros arguably far outweigh the cons.
