Week 15 Fantasy Football Busts

Fantasy Football Busts

Choosing the players who will succeed and benching the ones who will not is essential to winning in fantasy football. Each week, fantasy owners will have to make the tough decision to put a player they like on the bench because the truth is that player is a bust. The willingness to do so is what separates good managers from bad ones. Let’s take a look at five players who could bust in Week 15.

Derek Carr – QB, Las Vegas Raiders (vs CLE)

Carr has been an average quarterback for fantasy football purposes this year. He is averaging 16.4 fantasy points per game and is 13th overall in total points for quarterbacks. However, Carr has not been producing well for fantasy football the last few weeks. He only has one game with more than 13 fantasy points in the last four and could struggle again in Week 15.

Devonta Freeman – RB, Baltimore Ravens (vs GB)

Freeman has been an excellent waiver wire pickup as he has been successful in recent weeks. Over the last five games, he has received double-digit carries, and when he finds the end zone he has scored double-digit fantasy points. However, against the Green Bay Packers, he may be unable to do so. The Packers have held opposing running backs to the 11th fewest fantasy points per game so far this year. Although they are not at the top of the pack, Freeman’s touchdown reliance makes him a risky start on Sunday.

Javonte Williams – RB, Denver Broncos (vs CIN)

Williams has finally broken out in the back half of the year but may take a step back this week. The rookie running back has scored 20 or more fantasy points in his last three matchups. However, the high-scoring games came against poor run defenses and some with Melvin Gordon not playing. Although the Broncos are playing a mediocre run defense against the Cincinnati Bengals, Gordon is healthy and Williams may not produce another 20+ fantasy point game.

D.J. Moore – WR, Carolina Panthers (vs BUF)

Moore has had his ups and downs this year but has been good in his last three games. He has scored more than 14 fantasy points in all three matchups but may not do so on Sunday. The Panthers are playing the Buffalo Bills who have been excellent against the pass. They have allowed the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers they have faced so far this season. If Moore struggles against a top-tier defense he will be a bust this week.

Pat Freiermuth – TE, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs TEN)

Freiermuth has been a decent fill-in option at the tight end position, but should not be started this week. The rookie tight end is averaging just below ten fantasy points per game and has not shown the upside to be started. The Steelers are facing the Tennessee Titans who have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Freiermuth’s best fantasy performance of the year was against the Chicago Bears during Week 9 where he scored 21.3 points, and it was with two touchdowns. Freiermuth’s lack of consistency and high ceiling makes him a sit this week for most fantasy teams.
