CFB Prospects to Watch: Week 11

CFB Prospects to Watch

It’s once again time for our weekly prospects and this week we have another very interesting group of players. With draft season right around the corner, there are several guys who are looking to make a name for themselves in marquee matchups this week and could see a significant boost in their stock should they play well. Let’s get into it.

K.J. Jefferson, QB, Arkansas

The quarterback of the week clearly goes to Jefferson. We’ve seen some really good things from him this year and a lot that reminds you of a baby Cam Newton when he’s out there. Now, going up against Alabama, Jefferson can make huge strides in his stock with a big performance and could even get into the top group around with how questionable the prospects have been this season.

Zakhari Franklin, WR, UTSA

Another week and another UTSA prospect. Franklin is only a junior but with the way he’s playing in such a run-dominant offense, he could be a solid late-round pickup for any team. The Roadrunners take on UAB this week, their clear biggest threat to the undefeated season that remains and Franklin will need to have a big day to keep this offense two-dimensional throughout the game.

Nicholas Petit-Frere, OT, Ohio State

Petit-Frere has drawn a ton of interest as of late but Ohio State has yet to play a serious marquee opponent where he’s been challenged. We’ve seen Michigan State’s defense be able to get to the quarterback at times but if Petit-Frere can shut them down, we are going to need to take a much deeper look at this player come draft time.

Tristan Nichols, DT, Nevada

When researching guys with the most intriguing matchups this week, Nichols jumped off the page. A 6’4″ 245-pound defensive tackle with 9.5 sacks and two forced fumbles on his ledger this season, Nichols has been an animal. With all the sacks he’s garnered, however, we need to see him in run support a bit more and there’s not a more perfect opportunity to do so than against Air Force this week.

Steven Jones Jr., CB, Appalaichan State

Jones has been an elite ball-hawk for the Mountaineers this season. He has totaled five interceptions this year. You don’t hear much about him because of the small school nature but this is a guy who can make some noise around draft season. This week, the Mountaineers go up against a 5-5 Troy team that is looking to land an upset on a team that has been bullying the rest of the Sun Belt all season. Jones shutting down the Troy offense would go a long way for both his team and his draft stock.

Week 11 in the NFL brought more chaos, with at least five games on Sunday being decided by a single score. Notably, the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts won their games by just one point. As a result of their performance, the Buffalo Bills have earned the title of our NFL Team of the Week for the second time this season, having previously received this honor in Week 8.
