How Can Paris Saint-Germain Defeat Manchester City?

Paris Saint germain Man City

On September 28, Paris Saint-Germain will welcome Manchester City to the French capital for a Champions League Group match. The current standings have Manchester City on top of the group with Les Parisiens just behind them. Man City took the win in their opening group match, while PSG was held to a 1-1 draw.

In PSG’s case, a 1-1 draw on the road against Club Brugge was unacceptable, considering the fact that Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé were all in the starting lineup. PSG is arguably the strongest favorite to win the tournament. Manchester City is also a favorite. However, considering the talent on the roster, there’s no excuse for PSG to not win the title. In other words, Les Parisiens are not in a position where they have nothing to lose. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The same goes for Manchester City, but PSG is in a much bigger predicament.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Objectives

Scoring goals is the top priority. Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé are all more than likely to be deployed against Manchester City’s solid and respectable defense. Man City did concede three goals in their opening match against RB Leipzig and they can’t allow that to happen again. Their defense will have have their hands full defending PSG’s trio attack. PSG’s trio knows they’ll have their hands full against Manchester City’s solid defense. They will need that attack needs to overwhelm and overpower Manchester City’s defense and get the ball past the keeper.

Manchester City also has a dangerous attack. PSG’s defense will find it difficult defending against the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, Gabriel Jesus, and Riyad Mahrez. Manchester City found the back of the net six times in their opening game. As respectable as PSG’s defense is, Manchester City’s attack is perfectly capable of tearing it apart. Therefore, PSG’s defense going to have to push themselves harder in this match and prevent the visitors from being able to score and play effectively.

Overall, Les Parisiens need to stay in control of the game at all costs in order to win. Manchester City eliminated PSG in last season’s tournament on a 1-4 aggregate in the semi-finals. Les Parisiens need to go and prove that they are the better club.
