Blaze Jordan as Good as Advertised

Blaze Jordan

In the third round of the 2020 MLB draft, the Red Sox selected Blaze Jordan. The Mississippi native was one of the youngest players in the draft but brought elite power. In his first full professional season, he has lived up to expectations. The eighteen-year-old appeared in 19 games in the FGL and was an on-base machine. Earlier this week, Jordan was promoted to Low-A-Salem. With his new team, Jordan will be looking to continue his scorching hot start.

Through 69 at-bats in 2021, Jordan has 25 hits, including 12 that have gone for extra bases. The Red Sox tenth-best prospect has made minor league pitching look easy and has been a dangerous bat. He has been able to limit strikeouts as he posted a 17.1 percent strikeout rate in the FGCL. After not having a 2020 minor league season, Jordan has not looked overwhelmed.

So far this season, Jordan has spent most of his time at third base. While his position may switch as he gets closer to the majors, his power is rare. The former 89th overall pick’s bat speed and strength have been on full display during his brief pro career. He has also proven to be a solid run producer and had 19 RBI before his promotion. Although Jordan’s career is just beginning, he has shown encouraging signs.

Before Jordan’s promotion, he had three RBI’s in his last four games. He also had multiple hits in six of his last seven games. While the former third-round pick has been a hits machine, he had also gone six straight games without a strikeout. In a farm system that is on the rise, Jordan is one of the reasons Boston has a bright future. While Triston Casas has been on fire in the Olympics, Jordan has been equally impressive.

As the minor league winds down, Salem will be a team for Red Sox fans to keep an eye on. It is an affiliate with future stars that now has the dangerous bat of Blaze Jordan. Regardless of what position the eighteen-year-old plays, another power bat is inching closer to Boston.
