The Daily Dollar: MLB, NBA, Gold Cup Bets for 7/11

The Daily Dollar

Happy Sunday and welcome back to the Daily Dollar, my fine-feathered faders. We are coming off a rough Saturday for sure, finishing 1-2 last night. The real kick in the grass was Mexico’s failure to score a single goal against Trinidad and Tobago, while completely dominating the game. What I had capped as a 4-0 victory played into a 0-0 tie after the T&T keeper played out of his mind. We live and learn.

We won’t let that game scare us off from going back to the Gold Cup well today, as well as touching on another pair of games around sports looking for a 3-0 day to get back on that horse. I’m loving the opportunities today, even amongst a small sampling of available games. Let’s not waste any more time.

You can find my recent picks right here. Overall record 18-11.

MLB: Colorado Rockies at San Diego Padres u8.5 (+100), 4:10 p.m. EDT

I like what the oddsmakers are giving us here. Colorado is terrible on the road and Jon Gray (5-6, 3.94) toes the rubber for them. Meanwhile, the Padres will send youngster Ryan Weathers (4-2, 3.02) to oppose them. This is going to be a tale of two run-scoring opportunities. Gray has been far better than his numbers suggest. The veteran has to deal with the non-confines of Coors field quite often, and he has the ability in San Diego to get into the seventh inning before turning the ball over to an excellent bullpen.

The Rockies are anemic on the road (seven wins on the season) an may only get to Weathers for a run or two before he exits around the fifth inning. The Rockies will do just enough against the Padres’ bullpen to eke out a victory headed into the break. First-half fatigue is real, and both teams will just want to get out of there after a quick pitchers’ duel kind of game.

Book it: Rockies/Padres under 8.5 total runs scored (+100)

NBA: Phoenix Suns at Milwaukee Bucks o221.5 (-110), 8:05 p.m. EDT, ABC

This total is too low. This is a complete whiff by Vegas, in my opinion. The Bucks are against the wall, trying to avoid falling to 0-3 in the series. Phoenix has been running this thing and is only a four-point ‘dog on the road, as their offense is showing no signs of slowing down. Through two games, Chris Paul has shown he is not only satisfied getting a ring, he’s gunning for MVP honors with a 27.5/8.5/4.0 line. The Suns will continue to score.

On the flip side, the Bucks are good for 100 points without blinking, regardless of who is leading the charge. In Games 1 and 2, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday were a combined 16-51 from the floor, including 2-13 from three-point range. That’s not going to hold up. They’re going to put the ball in the basket and Giannis Antetokounmpo is showing few ill effects of his injury.

This is going to be a fun, high-scoring affair. The two teams are going to blow this total out of the water.

Book it: Suns/Bucks over 221.5 total points scored (-110)

CONCACAF GOLD CUP: United States 1H -0.5 (-131) vs. Haiti, 8:30 p.m. EDT, FS1

Another open-and-shut here. Even with a lot of the regulars sitting the game out for Team USA, they still have the offensive firepower and tightened defense to blow the doors off of Haiti in this one. The line for the game features the United States team favored by a goal and a half with a game total between the two teams of 2.5. I do not expect Haiti to score in this game, and the men in red, white, and blue are sure to put at least one ball into the back of the net in the first half. Easy-peasy.

Book it: United States -0.5 (-131), first half line

That will do it for today. A clean sweep of the board today gets the sour taste of last night out of our mouths, and we are riding high headed into next week. Best of luck in all of your wagering endeavors. Let’s build our bankroll.

It must be weird facing your former team. It is, without a doubt, an awkward feeling when past teammates become your enemies. How would a player or coach deal with it? Does it add any more pressure?
