Tennessee Titans True or False: June Edition

Tennessee Titans

It’s that time of year, the weather is getting warm, no football being played, other sports drawing to a close, and baseball season is in full swing. Add to that for the first time in over a year fans are beginning to be welcomed back to stadiums and arenas at full capacity, which couldn’t come at a better time with the NFL season less than 100 days from kicking off.  Here’s a look at the June Edition of the Tennessee Titans True or False.

Author’s note: This monthly piece will reassess some of the questions from previous installments and new ones will be addressed.

Julio Jones will be Wearing Two-Tone Blue come Week 1?

True. After not realizing he was on the air during a phone conversation with Hall of Fame tight end, Shannon Sharpe on his show, Jones has stood firm on what he said. He wants out of Atlanta. While any team would like to add a seven-time Pro Bowler to their roster regardless of cost, only a handful of teams have been in communication with the Falcons. The Titans are one of those teams. Titans players Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown have taken to social media to try and sell Jones on coming to Nashville.

A first-round pick, which is reportedly what the Falcons are looking to get in return, wouldn’t matter to a playoff team from the last two seasons and the reigning AFC South champs, who expect to be back in the postseason this season. It would make that pick a lower third of the first-round selection, although the team expects it to be the No. 32 pick. Those expectations would be that much more realistic if they add Jones to their offensive weapons.

There’s a Free Agent that Could End up in Tennessee?

False. The one guy who would’ve made sense for the Titans to take a look at signing just signed with their rivals the Houston Texans is Rex Burkhead. While there are some intriguing names still unsigned like Melvin Ingram, K.J. Wright, and Justin Houston. Another option is former Titan and fan-favorite Jurrell Casey, who would undoubtedly improve this team defensively. The Titans with the exception of trying to obtain Jones are steadfast with the roster they currently have in place.

Caleb Farley can be a Shutdown Corner?

True. The team sure hoped so when they selected the Virginia Tech cornerback with the No. 22 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Besides his college career on his resume, lining up in practice against Brown and the possibility of Jones would help the rookie in his transition to the NFL. With the loss in secondary due to salary cap issues, Farley will be expected to jump right in and perform.

It’s AFC Championship or Bust?

True. For a team that has made the postseason the past two seasons, this is definitely the case, even with the question marks about the pass rush and secondary. Last season, they couldn’t make it past the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round, after ending 2019 just one victory from playing in the Super Bowl after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.
