Heller’s Three Burning Questions 3.0: Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars

With the 2021 NFL Draft over and the schedule officially being released, it’s time for my third annual 32 part series where the top three questions will be posed for each NFL team. Here are those three questions for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Be sure to check out all of Heller’s Three Burning Questions.

Will Urban Meyer be an Exception to the Normal?

Meyer is the latest college coach to make the jump to the big show that is the NFL. He hopes to have a different fate than Nick Saban and Chip Kelly have had in their recent attempts. Meyer had the benefit of the No. 1 overall pick, heavy draft capital, and substantial money to add talent as he saw fit. That alone makes it seem unlikely that he will fail in the NFL. While the Jaguars won’t go 17-0 in his first season on the sidelines, the team won’t look anything like the team they put on the field last season that managed just a single win that came in Week 1.

Will Trevor Lawrence have Immediate Success?

The No. 1 overall pick a full year in the making Lawrence, like his new head coach has just about everything a rookie quarterback could ask for in his first season. The Jaguars drafted his Clemson teammate Travis Etienne with their second first-round pick. The running back joins last season’s breakout rookie running back James Robinson and veteran Carlos Hyde in the backfield. Former Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones was signed in free agency. He joins young receivers DJ Chark and Laviska Shenault Jr, who last season were one of the few bright spots for this team along with Robinson.

What’s the Deal at Tight End?

In an offseason that saw a new head coach and new franchise quarterback, neither is the biggest move of note in Jacksonville. The team, after much speculation, signed former NFL starting quarterback and minor league baseball player, Tim Tebow to play tight end. He is reunited with his former head coach at Florida, in Meyer. While there hasn’t been any confirmation or denial from the head coach or the organization, many believe in addition to playing true tight end, he will be used in a fashion similar to what Taysom Hill has in seasons past in New Orleans. Tebow, at the very least, is a gifted athlete, so transitioning to a different position where he’ll have opportunities to make plays with the ball in his hands, it’s hard to imagine he won’t be successful.

Gates Top NFL Team From Week 11 (2024)

Week 11 in the NFL brought more chaos, with at least five games on Sunday being decided by a single score. Notably, the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts won their games by just one point. As a result of their performance, the Buffalo Bills have earned the title of our NFL Team of the Week for the second time this season, having previously received this honor in Week 8.
