Breaking News: Patriots Release Coveted Defensive End

In a move that adds another disappointing blow to the New England Patriots and their fans, the organization has announced that they are cutting ties with defensive end Kony Ealy.

The Patriots traded for Ealy and a 3rd round selection on March 10th in exchange for their 2nd round selection in this year’s draft.

Mike Garafolo reported via Twitter less than an hour ago.

“Patriots are releasing DE Kony Ealy, source said. Tried him in their scheme. Not a similar style to Ninkovich so it didn’t work out.”
The Patriots are now left with rookie Deatrich Wise Jr. and Geneo Grissom on the left side of the defensive line with Trey Flowers as well as rookies Caleb Kidder, and Keointa Davis on the right side.
Look for major shakeups and position battles in practice and in the last preseason matchup against the Giants in this coming week.
