Heller Answers His 3 Burning Questions: Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers

Prior to the 2020 NFL season, three questions were posed for each of the 32 teams. This is the recap and answers to those questions for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Has the Bell Rung for Big Ben?

Ben Roethlisberger returned from injury and proved his arm is still as strong as it ever was. He threw for 3,800 yards and 33 touchdowns, to push his career totals to over 60,000 passing yards and just four touchdowns shy of 400. Thanks to his offensive line and his ability to get the ball out quickly, Big Ben was sacked a career-low 13 times.

Is JuJu Smith-Schuster a Legitimate No. 1 Receiver?

The season was supposed to be JuJu’s season in Steel City. But his season was known more for guys Tik Tok videos and his antics during pregame warmups than on the field. His season totals were 831 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

The stud receiver in Pittsburgh was their second-round pick, Chase Claypool from Notre Dame. He led the team with 873 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, he also had a pair of rushing touchdowns. This is even more impressive when his snap count was limited being the number three or four receiver for most of the season.

Are the Steelers a Top-Three Defensive Unit?

The defense was as advertised. Even after the unit lost both Devin Bush and Bud Dupree to season-ending ACL injuries. The duo accounted for 13 sacks combined before going down. T.J. Watt, who was robbed of Defensive Player of the Year honors, led the team with 15 sacks.

They helped their veteran quarterback and team to become the last unbeaten team in the league when they started the season 11-0. The injuries led to them finishing the season just 1-3. They then lost to their division rival, the Cleveland Browns, in the Wild Card round.
